EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
One year program - Dual enrolled with Rappahannock Community College
Students learn about Basic Cardiac Life Support, first aid, airway management, patient assessment, trauma management, medical management, operations including Hazmat, weapons of mass destruction, terrorism awareness, EMS response to specialized incidents, clinical observations, patient assessment, and workforce redness skills
POSSIBLE CAREERS - Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES I & II - 11 or 12th Grade
STUDY - Fundamentals of EMS, anatomy, physiology, & medical terminology while demonstrating skills in assessing & managing patient care, including assessing the scene & understanding shock, resuscitating, & trauma. Build on their knowledge by focusing on the areas of EMS operations, medical emergencies, & management of special patient populations.
Students will need to undergo a criminal background check that includes fingerprinting & drug screening
Earn 3 high school credits & 9 college credits
